It's been a while since my last mail call! And this one arrives with a story to tell: It was February of 2019 that I was in one of the many "scorch the Earth" searches (that I'm sure many of you know all too well) for a unicorn by the name of Hamilton Chrono-Matic. Being a fairly rare vintage piece of great desire, my quest was rather fruitless for some time. So naturally I lowered my standards and started to seek out "alternatives"; something to scratch the intense itch that I had for a mid-size panda bi-compax chronogrpaph with a date complication for daily wear. This yielded a number of reasonable results, but something was always coming up short on my check sheet. So after the usual bouncing around from one result to the next, I realized that one of my early findings for an affordable panda chronograph actually came from Dan Henry in his 1964 line. One of which I was able to try on at the latest Wind Up watch fair in SF just a few months prior, so I knew how well it fit. But after taking a closer look at the line, while of they're of fine quality and design, didn't offer the exact look I was going for. However, rather than dropping my head in utter failure, my inner Photoshop nerd was kinda like: "Ya know, it would only take like a minute to mockup a black inner tach ring around that silver dial. Cmaan, it'll be fun!" So I did. And voila! There it was: A spot-on, vintage-inspired, modern-made tribute to the ol' Chrono-Matic! At this point I knew this had to go somewhere. What could it hurt? So I jumped onto Dan's website, pulled up his contact email, and simply shared a dream, from one watch enthusiast to another. His immediate response was essentially: "Give me about six months." And naturally I was absolutely floored that he would be so open to the idea. But here we are! And I couldn't be more proud of my little contribution to the watch world 😃 So I guess the moral of the story would be: Never suppress your inner nerd? 🤣 And that you should absolutely checkout the latest addition to Dan Henry's 1964 line. Just wanted to drop in and give a huge THANK YOU to everyone that's made time to utilize the ongoing sale and show some real support for my humble shop. It's been extremely helpful during this time of global instability to know that I have such a gracious and caring community 🤟 . Gushing aside, why are you seeing some random envelopes? Because effective immediately, this is what I will be using to ship all orders for the time being. They are constructed from kraft paper instead of plastic, so any trace droplets of the virus that these parcels might come in contact with over their multi-day travels are only able to survive up to 24 hours, instead of 72 hours. (Copper would be the first choice with just 4 hours of virus survival time, but not exactly ideal for shipping, or my wallet 😅) . And another note, I am now offering purple as a stitch color!
